Some of Auckland Transport’s technology stopped working leaving commuters who rely on public transport in the dark about services on Thursday morning.

Live departure boards at bus stops are not working, and neither are the agency’s website journey planner and mobile app.

Auckland Transport said the problem had been caused by a major power surge that affected Microsoft’s Azure server.

Microsoft estimated the issue would take one to two hours to fix.

“This situation is obviously very inconvenient for people using public transport so Auckland Transport is working very hard to manage the impact, providing information through staff onsite and other channels until service is restored,” an AT spokesperson said.

MyAT and HOP card functions can still be used on the AT website.
