Dunkirk Police are investigating an early morning fire in the city. Dunkirk Fire Department reports it was dispatched to the structure fire with possible occupants trapped at 633 Leopard St. around 1:22 a.m. Upon arrival firefighters found smoke emitting from a single family house. The lone occupant of the residence escaped the house prior to the arrival of firefighters. The female occupant was suffering from smoke inhalation and was treated and transported to Brooks-TLC Hospital System by Alstar EMS. Firefighters entered the house and extinguished several small fires. There was minor damage to the structure and crews were on scene for less an hour. The cause of the fire was determined to be incendiary.
